Mariah is from northern California and moved to Portland to complete her Bachelor's in Child and Family Studies through the School of Social Work at Portland State University. After completing her degree, she received her TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification and taught English in Guadalajara, México for 4 years. She is currently enrolled in a dual-master's program (Masters of Social Work & Disaster Resilience Leadership) at Tulane University. Mariah's background has been a mix of education and social work, working primarily with children and families. Mariah's approach is to focus on client's strengths throughout the therapeutic process with a non-judgmental environment to help achieve a client goals. Personally, she employs mindfulness techniques to bring awareness to body, breath, and emotion as a helpful technique when applicable. Mariah has a passion for working with the Latinx community and the unique challenges faced by the community. In her free time, you can find Mariah spending as much time outdoors through traveling, camping, hiking, being on the river, adventuring with her family, being in her garden and practicing yoga. Mariah is currently a student intern, providing counseling under supervision and is working toward completing her clinical hours for graduation in 2025. Mariah is currently working with clients age 5+ and families.
