MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST
pronouns: he/him
Ian grew up in Texas where he earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University in 2018. Soon after, he answered the call of the Pacific Northwest and moved to Oregon where he earned his Master’s degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling, with a focus on addiction work, from Lewis and Clark College. Ian has 2 years of experience supporting adults and teens with a variety of challenges in both indoor and outdoor therapy settings. In counseling, Ian believes in making the therapeutic process a transparent and collaborative one, based on establishing an environment where you feel safe, cared for, respected, and welcomed to explore deeper levels of your experience. He works from a holistic trauma-informed, social-justice oriented, strengths-based approach, and believes that we use our strengths and skills to survive in the contexts we find ourselves in and that problems arise when our strengths and skills no longer serve our best interests. Whether your context has changed, your ability to cope has been overwhelmed, or you have made the decision to enact change in your life but don’t know where to start, Ian believes that the counseling relationship can help. By making connections between your present and your past through an integrated lens, we will work together to identify and develop your strengths in pursuit of your goals. Outside of work, Ian spends his time engaging with nature, playing video games with friends, attending concerts, and picking up a variety of hobbies led by his curiosity. Ian is currently a Professional Counselor Associate and working towards independent licensure while under supervision. Ian is currently working with clients ages 14+ and their families.
